I think the embarrassment comes in me thinking that people will assume that I got the tuck for weight loss reasons or an easy way out. That was the main reason that I had wanted to show the before picture – to show that the weight was gone, but the skin and muscles were jacked. I didn’t get lipo, I swear!
When my doctor looked at my abdomen he said, “Oh you poor thing.” LOL! He said I was the perfect candidate because I was in shape, had very little fat (aww yeeah!), and that I would gain more core strength by my abs coming back together (which will make me a stronger runner - woohoo!). He said he didn’t understand how my abs got so far apart, so I showed him this picture…

...to which he said, "Oh man! That doesn't even look real! It's like a torpedo coming outta there!"
ANYWAY! I’m just really glad that the surgery is over and done with. Michael is the best for handling the kids while I heal. One plus is that I get a lot of time to read. I actually finished “The Help” which I didn’t know was a movie already. Dude, I'm out of the loop.
And this is hopefully the last hospital room I’ll sleep in for a long time!
This is how far I can straighten out one day post-op. It's pretty much the same today, two days post-op. My back hurts if I stand too long because of hunching over with little core strength. Today I'm all puffy and swollen. I gained like 5 pounds in water weight. AND I may or may not be still wearing this green shirt, but I swear I’m taking a shower right after I finish this post!
I am so jealous! Someday I will get mine, too! :) And that's the reason I want one, too...I want some of the stretch marks gone, but I really want my ab muscles back together! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to swap "before" pics someday. haha!
DeleteYour belly with Isaac looked exactly like mine did with Jeremy. I'm actually a little afraid of how big it will get with this one! I probably could use a tummy tuck after this pregnancy. Don't feel bad. It's nothing to be ashamed of! You look great!
ReplyDeleteThat anonomys comment was from me, Amanda. Realized after I posted it that I forgot to put my name. Lol! Pregnancy brain!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I knew it was you! I still can't believe you're having another baby! Just make sure you're really DONE before you have a tuck. Haha!
DeleteAre you able to straighten up yet? You look so skinny!!! Love, Mom
ReplyDeleteA little more each day. It's just very tight.
DeleteI have been wanting to do this as well but have been told it is the most painful thing you can ever do and that recovery will take a long time. I am hopeful when I see you standing up. Wishing you a quick recovery. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteIf you have good help (my hubby has been awesome), then it's really tolerable. ;)
DeleteYou look great! And I'm sure all of that water weight will go quick, hospitals like to pump you full of iv fluids. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope so, because if I gained fat from all of the lasagna Michael's been making, then I have a lot of running to do! Haha! Love you, Natty!
DeleteWell, lady bug....I am very proud of you for sharing this. I hate to hear about the pain part, but I know you will feel better about yourself once you are all healed. You have worked so hard to be healthy and you deserve to look at that flat little tummy and be proud and happy! Praying for a quick recovery! And, you really didn't know that The Help was a movie? Hmmmm....you must rent this while you are healing....so good!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carmella. :) That's one of the reasons I want to show my "before" pic - even though hubby doesn't think I should - to show that I did lose the weight, but the bags and sags stuck around. Oh well.
DeleteI hope you heal quickly!
